Hounslow Cup Dec14 - Most Consistent Swimmer (so far)

2014/15 Season (as at the 31 Dec 2014)*

*NB these are not the final results but simply a guide as to how some people are tracking year to date, and is an indication ONLY of where they may come at the end of the year - IF THEY JUST KEEP SWIMMING!

1.       TOM BROWN

2.       BURT MITCHELL

3.       BRYANNA KUHNE

4.       MICHAEL KINDER

5.       BELEN CHANNELLS

6.       JIORJA RALSTON

7.       REYNOLD CHAMBERLAIN

8.       GRAEME JOHNSON

9.       JESSE TUCEK

10.   OLIVIA STEWART

The most consistent swimmer is a trophy awarded at the end of the year to the honest swimmer, that always has a go. Being on this list does not imply that you will be eligible to win the award at the end of the year. Similarly not being on the list is not an indication that you can’t win the award this year. Each swimmer must have attended a majority of the races so far this year.

For the maths geeks I have used the following algorithm and then ranked swimmers highest (1) to lowest

Each Swimmers Average Performance / Each Swimmers semi-deviation

Average performance is in seconds greater or less than (the median race result + 5 seconds)

Each Swimmers Semi-Deviation is the Square-root of each swimmers Semi-Variance

Semi -Variance is calculated as the

Average ((Negative performance in seconds, less than (the median race result + 5 seconds))^2 )

A very hard trophy to win because negative performance (the denominator), is inversely weighted.Think of it as the Presidents Cup on steroids!

The season is a long way from finished and such performance is very hard to maintain!!
